The Metrologic MS5145 Eclipse bar code scanner has a longer working range and a wider scan field than a comparably priced CCD bar code scanner. The width of the scan line grows as the bar code scanner moves farther away from the bar code. In addition, the laser beam pulses which makes lining up the bar code easy, and when the scanner senses a bar code, in CodeSense Mode, the laser beam automatically switches to scan mode and activates CodeGate to ensure high speed bar code scanning and accuracy.
